Once there was a man whose wife had gone, so he he was left to raise his daughter all alone.
His heart grew cold, cause he could no longer hold, the best “love” he thought he’d known.
One day he was stopped by a homeless man, who asked him for a helping hand.
He replied, “Sir, my wife has left me with our child, and I feel like I could die.
I have problems of my own, so leave us alone. Please sir, just step aside.”
As they began to walk away from the man, the girl turned around to look again.
She had not noticed the crown of thorns on his head, or the nail prints in his feet.
She didn't see the tears of blood that rolled down his face.
She never noticed the hole in his side.
But she heard the man when he softly said,
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for it is God they shall see."
The very next day, while they were on their way, almost late for school.
The homeless man appeared once again
Afraid to approach them, as if he was breaking a rule.
“Sir can you help me please, I need something to eat, and a place to sleep”.
Then he heard the father reply,
“Eat whatever you can find, and rest here on the street
I cannot help you right now, I just don't have time.”
As they walked away once again, the girl watched from the corner of her eye.
She watched carefully, but didn’t see the spot of blood that appeared on his side.
He said, "Come unto me all ye who are weary, and heavy burdened,
and I will give you rest.”
He walked away slowly, as more precious blood
appeared in stripes on his back, and on his chest.
On Saturday morning, the day was very boring, so they went to the park to play.
They looked up again and saw the homeless man, and once again heard him say,
“Sir please can you help a needy friend?”
The father pretended to smile and said to him,
“I don't have any change now, but maybe next time I’ll give you something,
The girl watched again as they walked from the man towards the other way.
The homeless man raised his head, looked towards heaven, and began to pray.
Sunday came, not a sign of rain, as they headed for Easter morning service
Down the street where they’d usually meet the man who was poor and homeless.
This time he wasn’t there. No traffic, no people, no noise.
The streets were unusually bare.
After the service they began to leave from there,
when the girl heard her name whispered through the air.
She turned around to see the homeless man,
not alone, but standing with two of his friends standing there.
She released her father's hand, and she ran towards the homeless man.
“I didn't put your money in the basket”, she said.
“I just knew that I would see you again.
I wanted to give it to you face to face”.
The man smiled at her, and gave God thanks.
He raised his head, and aloud he cried,
“I praise thee Father, that she saw the light.
You hid these things from the learned, and the wise.
With all the knowledge in the world today,
The purest love and compassion comes from children,
and the greatest wisdom is spoken through babes”.
As he reached forth to receive the child’s offering of love
He smiled at her and said,
"your mortgage is paid in full,
on a mansion above”.
She looked at him very closely, and then looked at his friends.
Fully aware that there was something different about this man.
She held his hands gently inside of hers;
she looked at his face, and looked down again.
As she searched upward for his eyes,
Then she began to cry, and she said,
"Lord, what happened to your hands?"

I'm Expecting A Blessing
This may sound a bit strange to you
But I’m in a state of pregnancy
It all happened the day that I really got to know Christ
The day I fell in love with Him,
and I finally allowed Him to be intimate with me
I was close enough to Him that I could hear His voice
I was close enough that I could see His face
I was so close, that I could touch the hem of His garment
And close enough to feel His warm embrace
It was then, that He planted His seed in my spirit,
Deep inside of my empty soul
He planted His word inside of my heart,
And He continues to water it, to make it grow
Soon this seed will be fully developed
Then I will bring forth His offspring
Until that time comes, I must continue to be patient, fast, and pray
Because while I am yet waiting on the spirit to deliver this baby
He still has work to do in my flesh, to deliver me
In the meanwhile, the enemy is still trying to abort my child
Reminding me of miscarried promises that were in store for me
Now he wants me to just walk away and cancel the birthday of my blessings
But he’s forgetting the fact that now I’m filled with God’s spirit
And I’m not the same person that I used to be
He uses situations to try and hold me down. He’ll even use others to talk about me
He uses the very ones that I love the most, to cause me the most pain and grief
But all things work together for the good of those who love God
So all he’s really doing, is adding to my blessing, by feeding my baby for me
Now I can feel the contractions starting, and I even feel the labor pangs
I feel like going on, despite the tests and trials, because I am whole, in Jesus’ name
It’s almost time for me to push; now it’s time for me to deliver this blessing
So if you hear me shouting Hallelujah!!! I’m just pushing, and pressing my way
Giving thanks to God above, for being the father of my baby

I Remember You
I Remember You
Aren't you the same God,
The same I AM that I AM,
The creator of the heavens and the earth,
The One who made man?
Aren't you the very same God,
Who parted the sea called Red,
The same all-powerful, the Holy One of Israel,
The one who raised the dead?
I remember hearing all about you as a child
I heard that you multiplied the fish and bread
I heard all about the many lives you’ve saved
Just by the power in the words that you said
I hoped that you would remember me,
I tried to call you every once in a while
When I called your name, I didn’t get an answer
I wondered if maybe I had called the wrong line

I Remember You Too
I Remember You, Too
Yes… I remember you too
I remember when you used to praise me
You used to thank me for the days that I gave thee
I remember you would come to me with everything
With all your unbearable burdens and suffering
You used to have joy in even the minor things
You would tell me exactly how you felt, openly, and honestly
Without feeling afraid, and trying to hide the real you- from me
Now don't be ashamed,
I understand exactly what you’re going through
So be encouraged… because I still feel the same,
My love for you has no end, I hope you know
I’ve tried to tell you through my servant’s hand
That nothing would ever separate you from my love
I am very mindful of you, just as David said, and…
As a matter of fact,
You're the very person that I was just thinking of

He Knows
He knows about the tears you cry
He knows about the pain inside
He gave me these words to encourage you
To let you know that He is pleased with the things you do
He knows that your heart is as genuine as pure gold
He knows that all you do for others, could never be told
He shares in my feelings of appreciation and love
And He wants you to know, that you are highly thought of
He knows the very number of each and every hair
He knows about your worries,
and He knows about your cares
He has sent these words of comfort
To help wipe the tears away from your eyes
And to let you know that there are many others
Who are standing by your side
He wants you to know that your work is not in vain
Just trust in Him through the sunshine, and through the rain
No matter what the situation is
No matter how hard the wind blows
He has sent these words to you, through me
Just to let you know

I AM, With You
From the rising of the sun
Until the going down of the same
~I AM… with you ~
I cannot leave you- because with you is who I AM
And I do not change
So take comfort in these words my child
And lift up your bowed down head
Don’t be afraid, Be strong, and Be of good courage
For what you see today is not the end of the road
If you would only look through Heaven’s eyes
Then you would see that it is simply a bend in the road
I have so much more in store for you
Your blessings are just around the corner
But in order for you to find the door
You must first believe in your heart that
~I AM… with you~
And then my child, you must rise,
and you must continue to move forward

The Uncovering
We've all covered up our hurts and pains
We've all tried to bury our sin and shame
We’ve given our testimonies from Sunday to Sunday
Giving honor to God, who is the head of our lives
Only giving the edited versions, and leaving out the details
That destroys yokes, and brings others from darkness into the light
Jesus bore all on the cross, so that the whole truth could be seen
Now the time has come for our uncovering
I know that it hurts to pull bandages away from the pains of our past
There’s no such thing as an “ouchless” bandage for our feelings
Sometimes we just have to let our wounds get some air
In order for us to be set free, and truly receive our healing
Jesus bore more on the cross, than any of us ever will
We must consider it all joy, pray, and we will endure
Don’t worry about how, but let go, and let God
So we can complete His good and perfect will
I pray that one day, He will give me the strength and courage
To stand and tell my entire story
So that I can let you know all about God's grace and mercy
To explain how He pulled my soul out of the trash, and recycled me
Jesus bore all on the cross,
so that we would no longer be bound
But that we all might be set free
So now my friends, the time has come
for our uncovering

Two Different Lifestyles
You will never truly understand me
or get to know who I really am
Unless you have also experienced
who, what, and where I have been
It may never become clear to you
why I worship God the way that I do
Unless you've also committed
and been acquitted of the same types of sin
You won't always be able to teach me
The exact same way that God taught you
Because the roads that I've taken to get to this place
Were not the same roads used when He brought you
I'm not trying to cause any friction between us,
nor am I trying to bring you any grief
But just try to understand when I say to you
Sometimes there are many other differences
That go far beyond what your eyes can see

I Have No Right
I have no right to complain
After all the things that You have done for me
I have no right not to expect
To share in Your pain and suffering
I have no right to rebel
Against those that You place in authority
I have no right to hurt someone else
Just because someone may have hurt me
I have no right to tell You
What I need to make me happy
When sometimes I forget to even say thank you
For waking me up in the morning
You’ve endured many tests and trials
And You didn’t say a mumbling word
After all the things that they did to You
Lord, what gives me the nerve
God please forgive me
For all the selfish things I’ve said and done
I had no right, not to give You praise
Because You didn’t have to sacrifice Your son
He left His throne in Glory
To be covered in flesh, and to die for me
He came to set the perfect example
So, I have no right, not to live Holy

Trouble In Paradise
Lord how can I give unconditional love
When it’s something that I can't seem to touch
How do I get over the deepest hurts, and pains
When they come from the very ones I care about so much
When others see that I have been wounded
They want to hurt me still
I am so glad that you are not like all the others
You give me the love, and comfort, that no one else will
How come the “sinner” will look after their own
But it’s the “saints” that smile in each other's faces
Even as the knives are being thrown
We lie, and we gossip, then with those very same tongues
We stand up to testify, and sing praise and worship songs
"Praise the Lord, Hallelujah, I'm Free"
It’s just as if You don't know, or You can't see
I have to say, Lord, sometimes I wonder
Are we all even on the same team?
If others don't want to get to Heaven with me
Then why don't they get off of this train, and stop hindering
I know that you never promised me that everything would be easy
But knowing ahead of time that fire burns, doesn’t stop it from hurting
Until the rapture becomes a reality
No matter what others say, or what they do to me
I still have to keep trying to find a way to give
This intangible, unconditional thing called Love
The one thing I can't seem to touch
Is the very thing that I need to feel

He Called Me Son
You called Abram, and renamed him Abraham,
Then you called him Your “Friend”, and “The Father of Faith".
You blessed him to bring forth many nations because of his obedience, and his patience.
You wrestled with Jacob through prayer, until the very break of day.
He wanted to be blessed, and he wouldn’t let go unless,
So You changed his identity when you changed his name.
You even favored your servant Job, as I have been told,
when You pointed him out specifically.
I know… he made You proud by pressing through life
with his longsuffering, and integrity.
You wept, when You went to call Lazarus back from the grave;
after others gave up on him, You removed the bandages of his past,
you loosed the man, and gave him life again.
All those “great” men of the Bible days,
You did wonders for them, and even gave them meaningful names.
You kept in touch, stopped by to visit, and even dwelled in their homes.
You did so many things to show them that You loved them,
and it helped to keep them strong.
Lord, I don’t understand why, You even stayed by King David’s side,
after all that he had done wrong!
Am I not just as special as all those other men?
Who am I? Don’t You care about my pain?
Don’t you see me crying with my arms lifted up in praise
much like a child wanting to be raised?
Suddenly as I felt You wipe the tears away from my eyes
You showed me just where I belonged.
I felt Your arms so lovingly wrapped all around me
before I ever knew what was going on.
You picked me up, and I finally heard You speak
You knew my name was John, …but “Son”, is what You called me.
Lord, before I ever got to know You in this way,
today would have been just another day.
Of course you know, I never got to know my natural father,
so I wanted to become one someday.
I soon found out, I wasn’t cut out to be someone I have never known,
or be something I had never seen.
So that is why I thank you Lord, for taking time from your busy schedule
to come down and teach me.
Thank you for showing me through the examples in your word,
what a father figure should really be.
That’s why I want to give You honor, glory, and praise,
for being My Father, Brother, and my Friend
Every morning that I awake, I want to just take the time to say,
Lord I wish you a Happy Father's Day.

You Are My Ministry
To love you the way that God loves me
To humble myself and serve you on bended knee
To comfort you in those times when you are in need
To worship the Lord God through honoring,
Because you are my wife, you are my ministry
Not to exalt myself above you, but to submit myself beneath Him
Because you are my teacher, my preacher, my companion, and my friend
And If I desire to be the man, and the leader that God wants me to be
I have to love Him first, love you, and I also have to love me
That means being your support, and your protective cover
That means being your very best friend, and also your tender lover
Most of all, that means being able to minister the word of God to thee
Because my love, My Sweet Love
You are my ministry
To my Princess,

I'm Not The One
I'm not the one
As much as I love you
I'm not the one
To wipe every tear from your eyes
or to take away all of the pain inside
As beautiful as you are to me
I can't possibly be there for you unconditionally
No matter where or when you're ever feeling lonely
I would love to always be that perfect man
but the only one I know who really qualifies
is the great, I AM
Please don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say to you
I love you with every part of me
that God will allow me to share
If I could, I would, for the rest of my life
be that perfect man for you
And I would always be there
I love you, but I'm really not the one that you seek
There is yet another, who is so much better than me
A much better friend, a better provider, even a better lover
His name is Jesus, the Christ; he's God's only begotten son
As much as I do love you, and would love to be that man for thee
I hate to say it, but I'm not the one

Broken Pieces
Lord I'm bringing You my broken pieces
Only You can make me whole again
I'm bringing You my broken dreams
That only You can mend
There's a void so wide in my life
That only You can fill
There's a pain so deep down inside
That only You can heal
If I'm not yet what You want me to be
Remove me from the potter’s shelf again
Break me, shape me, mold me, and then hold me
Until You see the finished work that You desire
Filled with Your spirit, and free from sin

Through Your Eyes
I already know how I see the sky above
When I gaze into the rising, or the setting of the sun
I know how the many splendid colors
Affect my thoughts one way or the other
I know just how to listen for the genius in a musician’s play
I already know how it makes me feel when I see so vividly
artwork in the clouds, and mountains formed as God has allowed
I know what makes me stop and think of your smile
While enjoying the view of God's creations
And singing a song of joy on a long drive across many miles
I know what makes me laugh, and I even know why I cry
I know how I see the world at Christmas time
What I don't know, and I sure would like to see, is…
How does the world look through your eyes?
I'll cherish the day when you finally share it with me
What colors do you see in the evening sky?
What exactly are you thinking about when I walk by?
When you see a collage of trees in the fall
Does it stir up any emotions at all?
What touches you deep down on the inside?
I'd really like to know what you see
How does the world look through your eyes?
Will you share your world with me?

Makes Me Wanna Holler
Sometimes your quiet mood makes me wanna holler
Your silent lips make me wanna scream and yell
Silence is never really dead at all you know
The effects that it causes are very much alive and well
Silence speaks things that cannot be confirmed
either it’s the truth, or a lie
I can only believe what you tell me
but since you don't speak to me,
it makes me wanna holler sometimes
If I could just break through your thick quietness
Maybe if I could make you laugh,
or help you release a much-needed cry
Would you even look my way and wonder why?
Even if you wondered, you probably still wouldn’t ask me
That's why it makes me wanna holler sometimes
I know I may be childishly overreacting
but there seems to be a soothing melody in the softness of your voice
And it just seems to get the best of me
You possess an addictive kind of love, much like a drug
And it has me waiting for even the smallest dose of conversation
That's why it makes me wanna holler sometimes
when you won't speak to me

A Kiss From A Rose
The soft pedals of your precious lips
Lightly brushed by my fingertips
As I close my eyes, I try to think
But somehow, I just can't seem to recall
If this vision that I'm having of kissing you
Contains any reality at all
No, …in reality I have yet to taste your smile,
But in my mind's computer memory,
I am already familiar with the intoxicating feelings
Of having you that close to me
For now, I have to turn my eyes away from you
Because I can't bear to watch
I can't handle the torture of the words that you say
It's not that the volume matters that much to me,
Or even the content of your vocabulary
Just the sight of your lips, is torture enough
Like soft pedals covered in the morning dew
Fresh from a newly bloomed rose
That's what I see, in my mind's eye
As I dream of kissing you

Don't Wake My Love
Don’t rock the boat
And don’t shake the cradle
Don’t stir up anything in my heart
If you aren’t able
To finish what you begin
Because I’m still human,
And my heart is not made of stone
I feel, and when I feel,
I feel genuinely
I fall, and when I fall,
I fall totally
So don’t mess me up,
Please don’t you do that to me
Don’t you dare wake my love
Until it is ready

Your Ways
Your ways are not like my ways
Not the same way that I would do things
Unconventional to say the least, I must say
Yet somehow you’ve still managed to change me
Lean not unto my own understanding you said
So I could never say that you didn't try to warn me
I lean so far sometimes, depending on my natural mind
That I fall right down on my natural behind
Causing much of my own pain and suffering
I could never comprehend the way that you move
I could never tell whether you’ll choose this day
But somehow I always know when you've been there
Your ways are unknown, and at times uncomfortable
But I still wouldn't want to have it any other way
The way that you think and reason is far beyond me
The understanding that you posses
Is much too far out of my reach
Your ways are not my ways,
and now I begin to see more clearly
That the plans you have for my life
Are always the best ways for me

Spiritual Dain Bramage
Be Bold in the Lord!
No, you must be humble!
You need a warrior’s spirit,
Be compassionate,
show love and you won’t stumble
You are too far behind,
Don't move ahead of God
Hurry up,
No, wait!
I worship you, almighty God
It’s so good to worship the Lord,
But today the Lord wants praise!
No wonder some saints are schizophrenic!

Musical Shares
When your conversation stops
So does the music that plays within my heart
The muse that soothes my very soul comes to an end
The atmosphere is quickly tainted
With anger, frustration, and fear
So part your lips and play a song for me my dear
Just speak a word, and slay the beast within
I could be the first to speak, but my words are often shackled by pride
So once again, I let stupidity get the best of me tonight
I played the role of the peacemaker, once too often rejected
I've tried on his garments many times before
Only to find myself emotionally exposed and spiritually naked
I'm not so sure I like his style of clothing
My heart doesn't want to wear that brand of pain anymore
So, place a coin in the jukebox for me, my sweet
Part your lips, and just speak to me
I don't like the song that I've been hearing
Silence is the most awful sound played in any key
So part your lips my princess, and play a song for me
Whenever the music stops, the non-verbal contest begins
But somehow, I'm always the one left without a chair
No music, no words, no place for my emotions to sit and rest
Play something for me,
Part your lips and play a sweet melody
Will you trust me enough to open up and share

Adam's Rib
She was created from the rib of my side, the closest one to my heart
Made bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh; ‘til death do we part
She was not fashioned from part of my head, or from my feet
So she was not intended to rule over me, or to be trampled beneath
Taken from under the protection of my arm, and placed beside me
She is different in so many ways, yet she was made equally
As I look upon her, what I sometimes wonder is this
Do I feel the way I do about her because of her lips, hips, and fingertips
No, It’s because of her warmth, tenderness, and her sensitivity
It is also because I am made whole again when I hold her closely
Because she was that missing piece in my life; the other part of me
The Bible says that in the same way that God loves me
I am to give her that same unconditional love in return
Whenever I notice a difference in the way that God is blessing me
I can see that it is a direct reflection of the way that I am treating her
I’ve learned that a real man can be a lion, or a lamb, when he has to be
I must love and protect her with an unselfish heart, while fearing God only
I didn't say I would put her up on a pedestal though, please read carefully...
I know that God is a God of love, but he’s also a God of wrath, and jealousy
I will admire her for her strength, and adore her for her beauty
I will listen to her when she speaks, and learn from her wisdom
I will give her the respect she deserves, and treat her like the queen that she is
Who knows, just when I would least expect it
God could give me the breakthrough I need, through his kingdom

Diamonds In The Rough
They don’t know about your past,
or care about your present state
They never take the time to try to discover the real you
Not concerned about your mind,
but about your size and your shape
Only interested in the absence
or the presence of beauty in your face
They don’t take very much time to search and explore
To find the things that are hidden far beneath
They are unaware all the while that there is so much more
They don’t realize that true beauty is more than skin deep
There is a treasure that is buried deep inside of you
One that can only be found by a true friend
Someone with open ears, and with comforting words
Someone with open arms, and with helping hands
Someone who will take the time to get to know the real you
Someone who really cares about you very much
Someone who doesn’t mind the outer shell
that covers the pure heart inside
Someone like me, who realizes that there is
a Diamond in the Rough

Always A Lady
The occasion really doesn't matter
Nor does the attire that you wear
Whether you’re teaching from a podium,
preaching from a pulpit,
or just lounging in a comfortable chair
…You are always a lady
It was something special about you
That I noticed a very long time ago
It was an immediate turn-on for me,
in my body, my spirit, and soul
But of course, I couldn't let you know
But now you know, that I know,
…You are always a lady
Your name explains your ways so perfectly
It means "Little woman, who lives virtuously"
No matter where or when, you have always been
And you always will be
Always a lady,
To me

The Music That Is My Life
Your words now provide the lyrics
You’ve changed the tune of the songs that I used to sing
My past filled with a crescendo of mixed emotions
Now calmed by the soothing spiritual melodies
That your Holy Spirit brings me
You have placed people in my path
For a reason, a season, and a lifetime
Many of them seem to make perfect harmony
While others are playing all the right chords
But somehow in the wrong key
Many situations come and go
Bringing joy and pain, love and strife
Lord, you are the conductor of the tempo of my soul
Just continue to play me in your key
As you write the music that is my life

Man-Child
Man-child
As I look into the mirror
I see the reflection of a man who looks just like me
But when I step away from this twin image
My reactions echo the hurting child inside
Although the reflection proves differently
He's been living inside of me all of these years
He barely speaks, and rarely comes out to play
You'd never know when he's even been around
Unless you could translate the tracks of his tears on his face
You know, it's not good to have a tree
That grows higher than the roots run deep
Nor for a man, to outgrow the boy inside
His spirit trying to fly higher,
But he’s still grounded emotionally
I desire to grow, to enjoy my life, to laugh, and to play
I’m tired of opening boxes of empty promises,
Always saying, Lord is this finally the day
I want to be bold, confident, and strong
Yet still very meek and mild
Lord I pray, it won't be long
‘Til you release this man-child

He Can Make Change
If you are ever feeling all alone
And your so-called friends are never around
I know someone who will always be there for you
He will never let you down
He specializes in broken hearts
He can even mend your shattered dreams
Nothing is ever too hard for Him
Things are never as bad as they may seem
If you can still look up, then you can get up
If you can still breathe, call His name right now
He'll pick you up, and dust you off
He can turn your whole life around
No matter what the situation is
No matter how great the pain
Whatever the problem
Nothing is to Hard for God to solve ‘em
Just bring it to Him, He can make change

If you can still breathe, call His name right now
He'll pick you up, and dust you off
He can turn your whole life around
No matter what the situation is
No matter how great the pain
Whatever the problem
Nothing is to Hard for God to solve ‘em
Just bring it to Him, He can make change

Don't Open 'Til Chistmas
You gave the best Christmas gift ever to me
When you opened my eyes and revealed my wife to be
You wrapped her in the finest of all feminine flesh
Virtuous and full of beauty, a lady nonetheless
But don't open until Christmas, that's what you told me
You give me a natural blessing, in my spiritual January
Now every day I have to pray for you to strengthen me
I can only look at my gift, as she sits under your tree
With a card attached, that says,
"To you, from God.
But do not open until after you’re married,
Merry Christmas John,
Love Me"

I Lost Myself, While Finding You
The more that I search for your face my Lord
The more of me I have to leave behind
It isn't as hard in reality as I had imagined it would be
Compared to the blessings that you have for me in mind
Each day that I awake and I continue to confess your name
I lose a little more of myself, but that's all good too
As you continue to hide me behind the cross
I can go through the pain and face the loss
Because I'd much rather lose myself, while finding you

Hello, My Name Is John
My name means, “God is Gracious”
And that's just what He is to me
He touched my body to rise again this morning
Allowing me another day that I have never seen
Yes, I can see, that God is indeed gracious
He continues to give me the strength that I need
My comfort is in knowing
That he holds the world in the palm of his hand
And because He is gracious, that’s where you'll find me
Before I was born He named me, and He gave me grace
Before I was formed in the circle of my mother's womb
He had already numbered each hair and sculpted my face
He had placed all the tools that I would need inside of me
Every gift that I would ever receive
was already granted to me before I finished the race
His word reveals the direction I need to get to my destination
My identity, contains my encouragement times infinity
Because everyone who calls me by the name He gave me
Reminds me of God's grace, so amazing
And gracious, that’s just what He is to me

Heart Strings
Have you ever tugged on the Heartstrings of God?
Have you ever tried to change his mind?
Have you ever found yourself pulling on the hem of his garment?
You couldn't stop calling His name
And you couldn't seem to stop crying
That’s why it's good to be intimate with God
Close enough that He knows your voice, and your face
If you dwell inside of His presence
You’ll receive blessings, Mercy, and Grace
Someone might tell you, don’t even bother
His mind is already set
He won't change a thing
His ways are always the same, they might say
But don't you ever stop praying.
Just keep calling on His name
Keep tugging on God's heartstrings

Naked and Not Ashamed
I approach your throne without my armor on
Allowing you to do what you have to do inside
Bearing my entirely completely helpless self to you
Wanting to be stripped of my fleshly pride
I humble myself at your feet my Lord
To learn the things that I need to endure
The battle is fierce outside of these walls
Many snares are set, many traps to make me fall
But I stand before you Lord, naked and not ashamed
Sending up a prayer to you,
That you would make me a better man

Killing Me Softly, With His Word
Dead to sin,
That's what your word says I am
Dying a physical death daily
Shedding the desires of my sinful flesh
Renewing my spiritual mind
While crucifying the natural man
You slowly begin to take away
Those things in me that really shouldn't be
As your light begins to shine even brighter
I hope to become a fading memory,
As your word continues killing me, softly

I Still Do... And I Always Will
Do you know what today is?
It’s the anniversary of the first day that we said, “I Do”
It was a day that I will never - ever forget
The first day that I placed my lips upon yours
And pledged my undying love to you, …my Princess
The words that we shared were spoken from our hearts
It was the initial seal of our Holy matrimonial bond
An unbreakable covenant of mutual submission, and pure charity
With a promise made to God that we would never part
Yes, I still do, …and I always will
mean every single word that I said to you
on that faithful day
I would marry you over, and over, and over again
I’d go through all the pain, and all the misunderstandings
I’d go through all of the tests of my character, and my integrity
I’d do it all over, and over, and over again
If it meant that I would always love you the way that I did then
That same way that I do right now,
…and the way that I always will

I AM
I Am your father,
The provider, and protector that you need
I Am your mother,
No sweeter love will you find than me
I Am your friend,
Through sunshine, rain, or storm
I Am the same each and every day
And My Word, you can depend on
I Am your employer,
I paid the price for your life, and now you work for me
I Am the Good Shepherd
I need you to help gather my lost sheep
Each day that you awake my child
I prove my love to you
I AM the one who continues to give you life,
For it is My breath that you breathe
I never told you that I used to be, or that I might be
I said that I AM,
and I Am everything you will ever need

Not Like The Other gods
You're not like all the other gods I have served
The ones that have always received, but never gave
The gods that lead me into a path of destruction
All leaving me struggling in sin, and never saved
The other gods drained all of my strength and virtue
They stole my faith, my hope, and even my security
But You are God, and you are not like the other gods
You have given me grace, and you replaced
all those things that were missing inside of me

Diagnosis: Internal Bleeding of the Heart
Painful emotions, like roots that run deep inside
Scars of past wounds have found a place to hide
It was said that I could come here to heal
A place to lay my burdens down, I was told
Come to find out- that wasn't the real deal
Now the wounds are even deeper than before
And I have more unwanted baggage to hold
Lord, how can I grow inside of you
if I can't seem to heal inside of me?
I’ve tried to tell the “ad-ministering doctors”
where it hurts me today
But they just tell me to stop crying,
grow up, walk in the spirit, and be a man
It's not real pain that you're feeling
Just use your faith, and think spiritually
Now I didn't think that this was the wrong place
And I didn't expect it to be a familiar face
To haul off and kick a brother while he was down
Just because I've yet to reach the place in God
where they are now
It has taken me many years
to get to the place to even trust enough
To let someone up close to my heart
To look at all the scars and stuff
But as for now,
I guess I'll just continue to look around
For a remedy to cure the growing symptoms
of the pain that my soul has found

If You Only Knew
If you only knew how long I’ve been waiting
To hold you here in my arms
To comfort and protect you, from all the things in life
That come to do you harm
If you only knew how long I’ve been calling you
But you just keep walking away from me
Even after dying on the cross for you
When I speak, you still won’t take heed
If you only knew the pain that I have gone through
While you continue to crucify me everyday
Yet you want me to continue to bless you, and protect you
When you won’t even take the time to pray
Time after time I keep forgiving your sins
My arms have always been opened wide to welcome you in
If you only knew, how much I really love you
You wouldn’t continue to do the things that you do

I Watch You
I watch you, as you suddenly appear each morning
Bringing your own style and grace to a new day
Slowly making your way towards me
As I pretend to patiently await your company
Disguising the excitement on my heart's face
I greet you with a faint, but phony “Good Morning"
All the while inside I'm screaming and rejoicing
Because I'm truly glad to see you once again
There's never a strong scent of perfume on your body
I suspect, so I won't be tempted to stray any
But there is a faint hint of a fragrance that's all your own
I watch you, as you get comfortable, and settle in for the ride
And I pray that God would speed up the time
Just far enough ahead for me to be allowed the grace
To just hold your hand, kiss your lips, and caress your face
As I wait on a bed of nerves to hear your first words
Like an incapable child waiting for his daily bread
But the waiting continues, and it's like torture to me
If only I could see inside of thee, and know...
Oh, ...Just to know, what makes you who you are
And why it all seems so irresistibly interesting to me
Yeah, I watch you, and I love what I see

Prayer Without Wings
Prayer Without Words
(A Musician’s Song)
Close your eyes and just concentrate on him
His spirit moves through every note of every hymn
His words will feed your soul with a simple chord
Conversations with God… through music, how odd
It’s just prayer without words, that's all
I promise you, it's nothing like you've ever experienced
The tempo changes from swift to slow
Reflecting the graces and many faces of God
Speaking to you one minute in a quiet hush
And suddenly lifting you into the clouds the next
Prayer without words,
The music of God, directing the tempo of my soul

How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore
We used to spend more time together
You used to tell me everything
Now I hardly hear my name called; hardly ever
I never hear the “soul-line” ring
My number is still the same
I haven't changed a thing
So tell me,
Do you still love me?
I can't tell you what I really have to say
Until you ask, seek, and knock on the door
If you really want your needs met
As much as you say you do
Then how come you don't call me anymore?

Last Call
Last Call
We're living in the last days
We've heard the warnings time and time again
When the trumpet sounds
You won't be able to call on anyone for help
Not your father, mother, sister, brother, or best friend
The world is in chaos and disorder
The time that Jesus spoke of, is now at hand
Warn the others, while you still have time
Speak the word in love, and take a stand
The last hour is quickly approaching
Do all that you can for Christ
Before the night fall
Don't get caught out after dark
Come inside the Ark where there is safety
This is the Last call

In God's Hands
God is not blind
He sees the things you do
When I pray, I ask Him how can He allow
All the things that you put me through
I prayed the prayer of faith
Then I watched, and I waited
I’m letting you know, that I’m letting it go
It’s in God’s hands now
I’ve told you time, and time again
To come out of that life of sin
God will pick you up, and turn you around
No matter how far He has to reach down
If you’re waiting on me to help you out
I’m sorry… I have done everything in my power
Now I’m letting you know,
That I’m letting you go,
And I’m letting God work it out some how,
It’s all in His hands now

Wells Without Water
Digging empty wells, and birthing Ishmaels
Chasing after dreams of things that you didn't give to me
Hoping and praying that you would do some rearranging
To bring to past things that I already know won't last
Simply because I realize that it is not in your will for me
Wells without water
I've dug them over, and over…and over, and over
Searching for that something to quench my spiritual thirst
An unquenchable thirst that would be more than satisfied
If I would just obey your word and seek your kingdom first

On My Knees
I love the Lord
He heard my cry
He never asked me for credit references
He never questioned my reasons why
He just looked into my heart
and He translated my tears
He reassured all of my doubts
and He took away my fears
He looked beyond what man could see,
and He took the time to minister to me
The Lord meets my needs,
…when I am on my knees
That is where I find my greatest strength
Where the worries cease and the joys begin
No, it's not the only way that I prefer to pray
But God meets my needs, on my knees
And that is where He will find me today

LifeLine
You threw me a lifeline, when I was sinking deep in sin
When you noticed that the line began to break
You rolled up your sleeves in prayer, and you jumped in
You’ve been there through the bad times and the good
You helped me keep my head above the water
When there was no one else who would
I may not always say the words to let you know
I may not always act in ways to let it show
I know, I could never repay you for all the things you do
In case I haven’t told you lately, I really do appreciate you
Sometimes we don’t let others know these things
We don’t give them their flowers while they are alive
So I’m giving you these words so you’ll always remember
My soul was saved, because you threw out a lifeline

They Call Me Lazarus
They Call Me Lazarus
You may not recognize me by this name
Though I’m sure you’ll still remember my face
I was once an important part of your life
Until I became sick with sin and I passed away
You prayed in faith that I would return to you again
But the Lord didn’t move on me in your time
He waited until after you had left me for dead
When all the painful memories of me were far behind
Then suddenly one day Jesus spoke to you
He brought those memories of me back from the tomb
He saw a stone covering your heart, and He rolled it away
He said, “Show me the place in your past where he lay”
You see… Satan had buried me in a tomb full of sin
But the Lord found me and brought me back to life again
I’m very much alive today, just in case you didn’t know
Because of prayer, Jesus wept, and then he said
"Loose that man, and let him go”

The Santuary of My Mind
The Sanctuary of my mind
It's the only place that I can really talk to you alone,
where no one else will try to “discern” what’s going on
The only place that I can feel safe enough to be myself,
without feeling like everything I say and do is wrong
The only comfort that I can find sometimes
Is inside of the sanctuary of my mind
Where many times I wish that I could stay
In your presence, all night, and all day

Good Morning Lord
Good Morning Lord
I am just reflecting on your presence in my life
On the many blessings that you have given to me
The words of my gratitude are unattainable,
Thoughts of you are sometimes unexplainable
So as I rest here, I continue to ponder quietly
I feel a peace in my mind, although it's cloudy outside
Because my strength and comfort is in knowing you
Though troubled situations encircle me on every hand,
and the daily trials of this life feel like sinking sand
I know your grace is sufficient enough to see me through

My Good Thing
I have found that virtuous woman
A gift given to me, to have and to hold throughout all time
The very one sought after by the richest, and wisest man alive
Though he searched the world throughout his days, he could never find
She could not be found, because she had not yet been born
The Lord had her in store for me
The gift that keeps on giving love
Placed in my life forevermore
Yes indeed, I have found my good thing
and the favor of the Lord, and man does she bring
The grace, beauty, and wisdom that she has
is much too great to contain
Much more than I could list in this lifetime
is what she possess in her character, and now what's even better
One day she will possess my name
Yes indeed, I have found my good thing

Made To Order
Have you seen my face
Any place on a menu?
Was there a deed, or a title with my name
Sold to you for a few dollars and change?
There is only one God. He’s the only one who can change me
So it's not up to you to try and rearrange me.
You don't like my size, my shape, or my hair,
You don't like the color of my skin, or the clothes I wear.
You don’t like the way that I worship and praise
Maybe you just don’t like me anyway
Whatever the reason,
Let me be the first to say to you
I still love you, but…
I ain't made to order!

Silent Prayers
Lord will you honor the prayers
That I can't seem to form with my lips?
Will you still recognize the words that my heart writes
By way of pen, and fingertips?
If I don't say it
Is it still technically your word?
If my heart, and my hand relay it
Doesn't it still have the power to be heard?
The woman who touched your garment
Just thought to herself, she didn't have to say
She just mixed your word in her heart with faith
And she received her healing that very same day
Sometimes it hurts so much on the inside
That I just can't find the words that I really want to say
I don't know all the words of your will as well as I might
That's why sometimes…
It may seem like the volume is broken on my praise
and the intensity of my intimacy comes forth quietly
But in those times, what my heart really desires
Is to just sit in your presence and pray, …silently

Roses, Thorns and All
The soil of a good heart
Brings forth good fruit
But trouble, is just like fertilizer
And is a vital part of the process too
The roses of life
Carry thorns of heartache and strife
But thorns are complimented by rosebuds,
and with much love, time, and patience
One day they too will bloom

Reflections
What would I be doing today,
If the Lord had not touched my life?
What would have happened to me,
If He had not prayed for me last night?
What if He had not come in the flesh,
And shown me another way?
What if He had never died on the cross,
And risen on the third day?
What if He had not proven to me,
That His love for me is true?
What if He had not left His Holy Spirit,
For sinners like me and you?
It’s because He touched my life,
That I have the strength to stand.
It’s because He prayed for me last night,
That I have another chance
It’s because He came in the flesh,
That I know He understands.
It’s because He has already died for me,
That I have been born again.
It’s because He proved His true love to me,
I know how to love even my enemies.
It’s because He left His Holy Spirit,
That I am no longer bound, but I am free.

One Too Many
Another night is gone
And a new day dawns
There’s something strange about this day
Suddenly I feel burning shackles on my arms and legs
What’s going on here? How come I can’t see?
That is when I heard the voice of God saying
“You've wasted one too many days, my child
You just would not listen to me”
You’ve committed one too many murders with your tongue
One too many lies, too much hate, and one too many adulteries
Don't say I didn’t warn you in time
I sent the Word through my very own Son, and you nailed Him to a tree
Lord please forgive me
This time I’m going to do whatever you say
I’m ready to repent this time
Let me go back and try it again
I'm sorry, I can’t help you now
There is no more Grace or Mercy
You have used up the very last of it
On one too many sins

The Spirit of David
The Spirit of David
I often watch the beauty of a rising sun
And then again in the setting of the same
Many words captured inside my mind only to escape my hand
While listening for a melody in everything that God has made
Like the strings of a violin, or a snare drum and ride
A still portrait of a leaf carrying the morning dew
Up above my head solar poetry satisfies my soul
With the splendid rhyme of a heavenly view
I love to watch how a story unfolds in my mind
With the simple glimpse of a camera's pride
When I close my eyes and I gently drift away
Into the world of a skillful musician’s play
The sensitivity inside of me
Covered up by a natural masculinity
I'm no less a man; I hope you understand
There's just the spirit of David inside of me

Fight
Fight!
If you have enlisted, then you are surely in it
On the front line, whether you like it or not
So grab a sword, and don't forget your shield
You’ll need all of your armor. So don't forget one part
Now get in line and stay in step
Don't move too fast, or too slow
The battlefield is vast and fierce
So wear your full armor wherever you go
Your sword is the only weapon you have for offense
All of the other equipment is used to protect yourself
You'd better make sure that you have it all in the proper place
Watch your own back; don’t depend on everyone else
Fight a good fight with your faith
Don't get weary when you’re doing well
Pay no attention to how distracting the field may get
Because sometimes your eyes have lies to tell
If you look through your shield of faith
You'll see things in a much different light
So don't stop, and don't drop your sword
Just continue to fight a good fight

Song of Solomon
I'm being inspired to write this
To express my deepest desires with a healthy love
The desires that marriages are made of
Not desiring you in a disrespectful way
but just to be able to touch you would be o.k.
To be able to hold your hand and walk along the street
To announce that the beautiful woman at my side is my wife
to everyone that we meet
Who says that I can't express my desires for you
To hold you in my arms and comfort you through
All the things that may discomfort you
I wish I could tell you
Just how much I wish that I could sing the song
The Song of Solomon that is playing in my heart
I have found her, who my soul loveth
and her virtue and beauty overwhelms me
I love her dearly, and I will sing these words
until the music stops, and I finally lay me down to sleep

Send A Prayer To Heaven
Send a prayer to Heaven for me
Make sure that you wrap it carefully
Don’t sent E-mail, next day air, federal, or UPS
I want it to go to God’s Post Office Box
Send it by the Holy Spirit
Stamp it Priority, Fragile, First Class, Express
If you know the words of prayer
And you at least have faith of a mustard seed
You should be able to get a prayer through
So when you contact Heaven again
Please don’t about forget me
Please don’t send the wrong return address
Because I really need a blessing, and I’m counting on you
I need your help, in asking God to help me
So when you pray, ask Him to send me a breakthrough
Make sure that you have enough love to pay the postage
I want to make sure it isn’t returned to sender, amount due
I thank you for being a friend, and I thank you for your praying hands
If by chance one day, you don’t have enough strength to pray
I’ll be more than happy to send up a prayer for you

Tears In A Bottle
The times that I've cried, you were always there
Collecting my tears in a bottle
To show me how much you care
You said that your word would not fall to the ground
Your promises would never return to you void
So there you are, collecting my tears in a bottle
All the past and the present pains
Mixed with the promises of future days
Being filled with an unspeakable joy
The tears from a clown may be a moving sight to see
But the tears from my eyes only reflect the pain inside of me
All of these years you've collected my tears
Sifting through my joys, my pains, and my fears
What have I ever done that was so wrong
That I deserved this type of punishment
When the very salt from the tears in my eyes
Become my main source of nourishment
I've cried for so long that I've drained all my strength
If you ever find that I'm not able to write again
In order for you to translate what my heart meant
There's a message written through an inkwell of tears
Bottled up in the prayers that my spirit has sent

Fallen
I’ve fallen
I’m dusty,
Dirty,
Bruised,
And broken
Embarrassed,
Frustrated,
And now I’m sulking
My self-esteem is rotting
My true identity is shocking
Did I make one too many mistakes?
Lord how long must I wait?
I don't want to stay where I don't belong
But I'm stuck right here in the same place
and I don't know what I keep doing wrong
You told me I had to renew my mind
but how do I fix what I don't know is broken
Lord, avenge me
Restore me
Lift up my bowed down head,
and raise me up again
"My Son, Just be still,
and know that I am God
and have faith- in your faith”
...those were the words that I heard spoken

The Dam is Breaking
The Dam is Breaking
There is so much love that is trapped inside of me.
For years I was afraid to let it all out.
Once too often my emotional resources have been mishandled
by those who turned out to be unworthy of what I gave them.
I know that now, once I open the floodgates
I won't be able to control the flow of my love again.
I believe that you won't abuse me or misuse me,
but I'm just afraid that I might smother you.
And I really don't want to do that,
but I don't want to hold back what you deserve either.
And that's pure love.
Controlling my emotions is what I need most.
By fasting to sedate the flesh of course,
though my heart cries out under the weight of suppressed love.
Too much of even a good thing is bad for you it seems.
Too much of even the blessed sun can burn.
Control the flood my Lord
Regulate the current of my love for her
Ration out only what you will allow
Without tripping the wire of your jealous anger
If I am to love her the way that you love me
Can I control the way you love me
by increasing the intensity of my love for her,
but without worshiping her
I'm not sure of anything anymore,
but what I do know is that I'm losing control
The dam of my love is surely breaking

Strength
Strength
You refuse to be a part of my downfall
When my emotions slip, you continue to stand tall
I truly believe you aren't as quiet as you pretend to be
You're just waiting for the right time
to tell me just how you really feel about me
I admire you, I adore you, and I appreciate you
For your strength, for your beauty, and for your wisdom
Sometime I have to wonder, what will it take
For me to listen and to obey when it comes to you
I know I should be strong and wait
to say those things that I really want to say
Sometimes there's a fear that if I don't tell you now
I'll lose a part of you later
I've been trying to build a foundation
but I know that God must build it, and it takes time
In the meanwhile, there you are, solid as a rock
But probably crying out on the inside
And just maybe holding me close in the arms of your mind
But as always on the outside,
showing an inner strength that's hard to find
And because of your resistance and emotional abstinence
One day, that same strength will be a quality of mine

To No Avail
To No Avail
I prayed to you
Just like you said I should
…but to no avail
Why would you request to speak to me
if you weren't planning on answering
When I sought your face,
it seemed as if you were in hiding someplace
I know you were listening,
I know you were watching
I called on your name
Expecting changes,
But only received the same
Where are you Lord?
Where could you be?
Why should I search for you daily?
When you won't even answer me!
To no avail I continue to call
Pressing my way through the suffering and all
You'd always be there you said, without fail
Hear my cry Oh God; that is my prayer
…all to no avail

Do You Have The Time?
Do you have the time?
Excuse me...
Would you happen to have the time
to sit for a while, and see about an old friend?
Do you have just a minute; hopefully you could spend it
On a good laugh, or even a much needed cry
To share the enduring tears, or a fleeting smile
It would even be nice to hold your hand, if you would lend it
Would it be too much for you
To just pick up the phone to see if I’m home
You could even leave a message
if your day is just too hectic
Do you have any time to express yourself verbally
I'll repay the cost for your thoughts, if you name the price
You can write them down, mail them UPS, Federal Express
Next day air, fragile, first class, e-mail, or even overnight
Well now,... will you look at the time
I'm sorry, it must have run out
I must be going now
I guess I'll be seeing you on the other side
Good Bye my “friend”,
I hope you have a wonderful life

The Road
No matter what you do in your life
The road has already been paved
You can try making your own detours
But then you’ll end up losing your way
Sometimes the grass may look greener in the valley
You may even see a shortcut through the fields
I don't care which road you choose to take
There is no one, who can change God’s will
If you'd just walk in the path that He has prepared
You'll end up in the right place
You'll know when you've made it
When you see His face

The Day The Earth Stood Still
I stood there with the others to watch and see
The man who hung on the cross for me
He endured great pain to complete His father's will
It happened the day the earth stood still
Yes, I was there, but all the details I can’t really remember
I relived a part everyday of my life, when I was still a sinner
I began to realize that whenever I made a choice to sin
I put a stripe on His back, and nailed Him to a cross again
I could never thank him enough, for what He did for me
What do you say to a man who died, so that you might be free
The sun refused to shine while He hung there on that hill
I didn’t know that He was giving His life just so I might live
He proved to me on that day
He loves me more than anyone ever will
That’s why I could never forget
The day the earth stood still

Those Trying Times
Those Trying Times
Bills are overdue
My new name must be “minimum amount”
Collectors are constantly calling, and calling
But I can't depend on the bank account now
Because the bottom has just fallen out
CRASH!!! Now there goes my credit
Cleaning up this mess, ain't gonna be no fun
Making Ramen noodles in a coffee pot
And for lunch, it’s peanut butter crackers, and a stick of gum
I’ve wrapped up tight, and found a place that’s just right
Finally got a spot warmed up, so I really don't want to move
Only one pack of hot chocolate left on the kitchen shelf
Either I use it to stay warm, or it’s breakfast… I have to choose
There’s no heat, and no hot water to wash my funky tail
So making multiple trips to the coffee pot is in demand
The postman ran, but he didn't bring my check in hand
Only more sales papers, more bills, and more junk mail
But I still give God all the praise
I give Him thanks in all these things
Shall I only bless Him in the good times
And not thank him for the strength and patience
Those trying times can bring

Death's Obituary
Death’s Obituary
Death died on a Friday night
Displayed in a way for the world to see
The wages of sin for all mankind
Proxied by a “Man-God” nailed to a tree
The only employment death ever had
Was to bring suffering to the lives of men
Death had no next of kin to leave behind,
But it left destruction, and many other friends
Death died on a Friday night
Yet it still affects the lives of many to this day
If you claim the name of the “Man-God” slain
Then death can never take your life away

View From Paradise
I know that you will be waiting in Paradise
Until God’s great Judgment Day
Then we will be together again
I'm getting my soul ready, and I can't wait
I must confess, that I was angry and hurt at first
When you left and you went on ahead of me
But now I realize you just needed to rest a while
You just wanted a better view to watch over me
While you were here in the flesh
I may not have always been what you wanted me to be
I pray that now when you look down
The tears that you cry are only because
You are proud of all the changes in me
I miss your love, your comfort, and your correction
I miss the fact that I can't still run to you for protection
I miss your warm embrace, and I miss your smile
I miss your loving arms, and your tender eyes
Speaking of which…
How is the View from Paradise?

The Void
The Void
Just bow your head, and close your eyes
Let the Holy Spirit cleanse your life
God knows that you want to be free from your sin
And His arms are opened wide, to welcome you in
He can change your life; I am a witness that He will
Because there is a void inside that only He can fill
He knows everything that you're going through
During your hard times, He has carried you
No matter what you've done, it's never too late to change
Because He lives, there's always a brighter day
No one else will ever love you the way that He will
Because He left a void inside, that only He can fill
We have all wasted time looking
For that someone special to give our hearts to
That someone who will fill our lives with love
When the very one that we should be searching for
Is usually the last one that we ever think of
With no charge to you or me
He gave His life on Calvary
Before we were ever born
He had already paid the bill
But He left a void inside us all
That only He can fill

What Is Man?
You are the Lord of Lords, the creator of the universe
I am only a piece of clay, formed from the dust of the earth
With smelly morning breath, and sweaty evening feet
Using only a fraction of my mental resources to think
You are the all-knowing God, and only your love is true
I'm stubborn, moody, insecure, impatient, and selfish
If you hurt me one too many times, we are through
Of all the things in this world to marvel in
You choose to love me, a creature born in sin
I'm constantly doing the very things you said you hate
Yet your grace allows me to rise and see another day
What is man that thou art mindful of him?
Did you lose a bet or something?
Or are you just doing a favor for a friend?
I give up!
I just don't understand the things that you do
I guess that's the very reason why…
There is no one else in the world like you

Cheque Mate
The battlefield of the mind
That’s where you'll often find me
Wrestling with the thoughts and feelings
Spawning the words and deeds
Sometimes spiraling beyond my controlling
I am just a pawn in the natural life
Just the middleman, engaged in a mental fight
The game really has nothing at all to do with me
It's played in a realm that is difficult to understand
A war waged on a field of battle
that I can't even see
But God is the master, and He is in complete control
Every move that I plan to make, He already knows
I'm just a broken piece of pottery
Living a natural life in a spiritual war
And the only way that I can claim the victory
Is to remind myself daily...
That this battle is not mine; it's the Lord's

With Angel's Wings
I’ve notice that there's a subtle way that you do and say certain things
You try to find methods to build me up, and the means to be encouraging
There's a different approach used when it comes to you handling me
Sometimes your softness gives to me
the very strength that I need
Yes, I am a man, but I'm not perfect,... I'm only a man
Constructed from the roughness
of the dust from this earth
But carefully you discern the wrongs, and you protect my frailties
Nurturing me sensitively as a babe newly birthed
You handle me with Angel's wings
It's almost impossible to explain it seems
Yet, I'm unable to contain it inwardly
With Angel's wings, that's how you handle me
The softness in you is a very refreshing change,
And it's just the strength that I need

The Wings of Prayer
The wings of your prayers
Have always been able to intercede
Soaring upward to the throne room
Asking God for more grace and mercy
The wings of your prayers
Have always been comforting
Wrapping themselves around the hearts
Of all those around you who are in need
The wings of your prayers
Spread outward, like those of an Eagle
Wide enough to protect the souls
Of each and everyone who need you
The Wings of your prayers
Are gentle, like those of a dove
Tenderly nurturing the souls that are in your care
Treating them with kindness, and with unconditional love
We sometimes hear about miracles, and supernatural healings
We hear of Angels sent from God, and other heavenly things
Many of these wonders, some of us never get to feel, or to see
But we all somehow benefit, from your prayers with wings

The Umpire of My Soul
What kind of game are we playing here?
This is my life, and I only get one chance win, so tell me…
How can I win a game, when I don't understand all the rules?
And how can I understand the rules, if they seem to keep changing?
It’s true that men rarely read instructions
And we tend to follow our own selfish plans
We are usually the cause of our own destruction
The only instructions that I know of
are written in so many different versions
That even the instructors can't agree
On the truth, and what its translation should be
I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful to You
Because I know that you can erase my existence with a blink of an eye
I just want to know, what kind of game are we playing here?
Give me specific instructions in order for me to function
In this sudden death game in which the prize is “eternal life”

Teach me your ways Oh Lord
Reveal unto me the mysteries of your mind
Hide me in the cleft of your understanding
Cover me with Your wisdom
And only then will I be wise
Shield me with the knowledge of your creative hand
Make known unto me your unknown philosophy
If you would hide your word in my heart, I may not sin
But until the time that I have renewed my mind totally

Worshipper and the Warrior
She stands on the wall
Watching, praying, and waiting to see
If the enemy has planned a sneak attack
There on the other side of the wall, you will find me
With my eyes closed tight, and with arms opened wide
Inviting God's presence to dwell inside
They say that God inhabits our praises
I just love to worship Him, and to seek His face that way
Maybe God has done a new thing in us
kind of switched the roles just a little
Though I pray, I haven't developed
that warrior instinct that she has perfected
Although she loves God with all her heart
She's not likely to be the one that you’ll find prostrated
Our different functions strengthen one another,
Both are complimenting God and all that He is in us
What a complete and wonderful work He has done
I am the worshipper, and she, the warrior
Together waging war against Satan's kingdom
and giving God the glory as the walls come down

Watching, praying, and waiting to see
If the enemy has planned a sneak attack
There on the other side of the wall, you will find me
With my eyes closed tight, and with arms opened wide
Inviting God's presence to dwell inside
They say that God inhabits our praises
I just love to worship Him, and to seek His face that way
Maybe God has done a new thing in us
kind of switched the roles just a little
Though I pray, I haven't developed
that warrior instinct that she has perfected
Although she loves God with all her heart
She's not likely to be the one that you’ll find prostrated

Without Armor
All is fair in love and war
So here I stand without my armor on
Exposing my heart openly to you my Queen
Without any reservation, protection, or covering
I've laid all of my weapons aside
I've even taken off my coat of pride
I’ve signed a treaty just to let you know
That I have come to you to bare my soul
As I stand here undisguised,
And at the mercy of your throne
I have a giving heart, and it is very fragile,
So handle it with care,
Don't take advantage of it please
As I stand here without my armor on,
I have come in peace, to lay it at your feet
This is not to worship you in place of my God,
But just to honor you, for who you are
Without armor on, I boldly stand before thee
Letting you know how much I love you
Now there's just one thing that I want you to do
Will you take your armor off for me?

God-Missing
I've been looking all over for you
Where on earth have you been?
I tried the prayer line that you gave me,
I’ve tried it once, twice, and over again
Where were you when all the storms began?
Where were you when I thought that my life would end?
I really needed to talk to you the other day
The collectors called; then came to take everything away
Where were you when I really needed a friend?
I thought you would be here for me until the end
Not just through my childhood, but also in manhood
“I will be with you always”, you said
Don't you remember, that's what you said back then
You're the same yesterday, today and forever more
With fish and loaves, You fed thousands of hungry souls
But where were you when I needed food and clothes
What happened, how come you didn't knock on my door?
Now just because you didn't show up on time
I’ve had to learn how to stand up and be strong
Because I searched for you, and You I could not find
I’ve had to learn how to survive on my own
Just one call, that's all
That's all that it took
You knew me before I even entered into my mother’s womb
So how could you not know that I was listed in the phone book?
Wait a minute here … What am I saying
I've learned how to stand strong
I've learned to survive on my own
Lord, those things could not possibly be, if it were just me
Lord please forgive me
You were there on the inside, keeping me all along.

Broken Wings
Lord please teach me how to fly again
Touch my wings so that they would mend
The wind outside must be just right for flying
Because everyone else seems to be doing fine
Sometimes there are storms all around
And sometimes there's just a gentle breeze
But neither has helped me to get off the ground
Lord, I think that I may have broken wings
I don’t believe that it’s my faith
Because I've stepped out on it many times before
I know that I have sufficient grace
Because you've given me a measure, and even added more
It has to be my wings that are broken
Father, please test them for me once again
I can't bear being grounded here much longer
Lord, if you will heal me, and help me to spread my wings
I will fly until my journey's end

Bow Down
Bow down and worship the giver of Life
Kneel down and praise His Holy name
Worship Him today, for when it is night
No man can work, it would be too late
Bow down and honor His presence
Reverence Him right here and now
Humble yourself before His Majesty
If you’re not sure what to do
He will show you how
Give your heart over to Him
Just bend your knees to pray
Reach out to touch His feet with your hands
Then wash them with the tears from your face
At first, you may feel foolish, vulnerable, and even weak
But He is just cleaning you, from your past, up ‘til now
Stay right there until you hear Him speak
He cannot get it all done, unless you learn to bow down.

The Pastor's ark
In the pastor’s ark
I have found God’s warmth, comfort, and security
I have been protected from many spiritual wolves
I have been fed, and nourished very carefully
In the pastor’s ark
I have found God’s knowledge, wisdom, and understanding
With every word given, there is a nail added to the Ark of covering
Where I come to be delivered and healed
While preparing my soul for a life everlasting
In the pastor’s ark
I have found God’s boldness, courage, and strength
I have witnessed the spirits of the enemy take flight
Because my Pastor is a mighty warrior,
and powerful servant of God
Not intimidated by others because of title, gender, age, or height
In the pastor’s ark
I’ve learned not to rely on what I may,
or may not have in my hands
I have learned not to let natural circumstances be controlling
Because everything that I’ll ever need to succeed in life
Has already been placed on the inside of me
In the Pastor’s ark
I’ve learned that the gifts of the Holy Spirit,
are all fine in their proper time and place
But our main focus should be on telling everyone else
about our Heavenly Father above
I’ve learned that of all the gifts that God has given me
Naturally, and spiritually
Through the pastor of this ark,
I have been given the greatest gift of all
The gift of God’s unconditional love

In Denial
Called to teach, to preach, and to prophesy!
Are you sure that you’ve got the right guy?
Weren't you listening when I told that lie?
Lay my hands on the sick, and they shall recover!
You don’t really want me to that do you?
You must have intended to choose another?
To whom much is given, … yeah, I know the rest
I never even applied to take this course of life,
Yet everyday there’s always another test
I know you said that your grace is sufficient for me
To carry the weight of your Word to the worldly
I've even heard it said that you have called me by my name
And now I can hear you calling, but I can’t understand why you need me
Are you sure You want me?
I’m still a young man, full of fear and anger
I have frustrations, foolish pride, and I’m so selfish
I’m insecure, inexperienced, and often very disobedient
Even Jesus saves, but I’m almost always broke
Even then at times it seems I have more money than common sense
Yes, I hear you call me Lord, but I still can't see
Why through it all, and after all I’ve said and done
That You would still call me
Me, … Lord do you really want to use me?
If that is your will, then let it be

Be Still and Know
If you feel that your problem is greater than I AM
Then my child, you have already been defeated
If you could have fixed it by now, then I’m sure you would have
Why do you think that I continue to allow these problems
It's only so that you would have to call on me, to help you solve them
If you didn't need me
Then you would be me
But you're not me, … so you do
…Need me that is.
Just the same as I need you
I need your mouth to spread my word
I need your hands to comfort those who hurt
I need your heart to bless the poor
I need to use each and every part of you,
Just remain humble, obedient, and continue to serve
I have given you many things to do
So that you wouldn't be in the way, … now move!
Yes you must stand, but not in my way
You must be still and know that I am God
And have faith, in your faith
Be still and know that I am God
I am greater than all of your problems
I AM wisdom, and I AM, even before the earth was ever made
So just be still and know that I AM God
And watch your worries fade away

The Ballad of Sunshine, (In E Flat)
Wake me early in the morning Sunshine
Watching you rise is an event that I don’t want to miss
Invite me into reality with your precious smile
Allow me to feel your presence with a warm and glowing kiss
I’ve seen your beauty framed in many different ways
Behind the ocean’s surface, and sometimes with a border of trees
Accented by the mountains, and the lights from big city buildings
It’s not a concern of mine where you chose to shine;
You’re still beautiful to me
Say Good morning to me Sunshine, as you open the sky for a new day
Giving me another chance to see my dreams become a reality
Which reminds me, to thank God for using you in that way
Jesus is the true light, but He uses you to show me so many things
Through Christ, I see things in a different light
I’ve learned that spiritual beauty is much more than just skin deep
And there is something especially beautiful, deep down inside of me
Are you getting tired now Sunshine?
I know it has been a very long day
As you close your eyes to rest a while, I’ll bow my head and pray
Rest here in the mountains, or maybe you’d prefer the sea
As I watch you slowly set with the cares of a child,
secure and worry free
You can sleep behind the big city skyline, or here behind these trees
It really doesn't matter where you sleep tonight,
When you rise Sunshine, you'll still be beautiful to me
Just don't forget to wake me again in the morning
I pray that I never see another day without you
Although I know, in every life some rain must fall
I prefer the days when God breathes on me
And I can sense your presence there too
I can't wait to shower in your smile, or bathe inside your beauty
I can’t wait to say”Good Morning to you my friend
It doesn't matter where we are when you wake me Sunshine
I'll just be glad to see that you’ve smiled at me again
