To No Avail

I prayed to you
Just like you said I should
…but to no avail
Why would you request to speak to me
if you weren't planning on answering
When I sought your face,
it seemed as if you were in hiding someplace
I know you were listening,
I know you were watching
I called on your name
Expecting changes,
But only received the same

Where are you Lord?
Where could you be?
Why should I search for you daily?
When you won't even answer me!

To no avail I continue to call
Pressing my way through the suffering and all
You'd always be there you said, without fail
Hear my cry Oh God; that is my prayer
…all to no avail
